Proven campaign strategist joins Pac/West Communications
Miller stepped into spotlight after swinging suburban Portland election
Portland, Ore — Pac/West Communications is adding a shot of energy and a no-holds barred strategist to its government affairs team with the hire of Miranda Miller as an account manager.
Miller got her start in Oregon politics in 2018, running a comprehensive field campaign for Rep. Rachel Prusak that ultimately won an upset election over a four-term incumbent and garnered Miller recognition from Democratic House Leadership. During the campaign, Miller developed a system to perform precinct analysis in real time to direct the right targeted messages within voting precincts that reflected changing perceptions of the candidates and issues. “What Miranda did with the Prusak campaign can’t be taught,” said Ryan Tribbett, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs. “She created her own playbook on the fly and worked it until she got the result she needed. The energy and passion she brings to her work is nothing short of remarkable.”
After the win, Miller joined Rep. Prusak’s office as an aide during the 2019 Oregon Legislative Session where she helped Rep. Prusak advance health priorities, including paid family leave and the tobacco tax referral. “Miranda is whip smart, loves people, works hard, and always lifts the spirits of those around her,” said Rep. Prusak. “It has been an honor to work with her, and I have no doubt Miranda will impress others the way she has impressed me. She will bring a ray of light to Pac/West and their clients.”
Miller began her professional career in North Carolina caring for children diagnosed with complex mental health and behavioral concerns. The perspective she gained through that experience led her to a career in politics focused on health care access and affordability.
“I’m excited to take on a new health care portfolio, specifically working with Oregon’s Coordinated Care Organizations,” Miller said. “I know firsthand how health care can change people’s lives, and intend to bring a strong patient advocate focus into the health care debate in Salem”
Miller has no fear of going into the full contact sport of Oregon politics. After playing rugby in college, she now skates for the Rose City Wreckers roller derby team in Portland. She also enjoys hiking with her partner and her dog and getting to know Oregon’s unique culture.
